Properties located in groundwater areas or within 100 metres from waterways must renew their wastewater treatment system by 31st October 2019.

If your summer cottage only has well-point water and a dry toilet, which do not pose a risk of environmental contamination, there is no need to worry about renewing the wastewater treatment system.

The environmental regulations in place in most municipalities require stricter requirements in coastal areas. In practice, this often means that toilet water is directed to a sealed tank or an alternative toilet solution is selected. Greywater can be treated locally (for example with Vestelli’s Bioreactor). You can review the local environmental regulations on your municipality’s website.

The deadline for groundwater and coastal area wastewater renovations is 31st October 2019.
